Participation of the RFLD President as a Panelist at a FAWE Africa Office Academy on Women’s Political Participation

Mrs. AGUEH Dossi Sekonnou Gloria, President of the Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD) is participating as a Panelist in the FAWE Africa Office Virtual Academy from June 28 to July 02, 2021.
The RFLD President is among the officials who will perform the opening ceremony of the Academy. She will focus her speech on Youth and their Space in Politics – the case of RFLD.
Participants will benefit greatly from her experience and enrich the training of facilitators for women in political participation, offering opportunities for experience sharing and collaboration.
FAWE, in partnership with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), has implemented the Improving Women’s Inclusion in Political Participation in Africa, Women in Political Participation (WPP) project for a period of 3 years. This project aims to increase women’s political participation and representation in Africa in line with the 2003 Maputo Protocol, various sub-regional protocols and standards associated with the SDGs. The project is being implemented in 8 African countries, namely Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Senegal, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
FAWE is at the forefront of regional interventions; Model Curriculum Reforms to Enhance WPP, Intergenerational Mentoring, Writing, Testing, Validating the Regional WPP Academy Learning Manual and Training Facilitators on the Learning Manual. FAWE has also implemented activities in Kenya and Tanzania.
FAWE will host the WPP Bilingual Academy Regional Facilitators Virtual Training from Monday, June 28 to Friday, July 2, 2021. The objective of the activity is to train 40 facilitators (trainers of trainers) from the 8 consortium countries, 5 facilitators from each country on the WPP Academy Learning Manual and Facilitator’s Guide for Women in Political Participation. The manual will strengthen women’s participation in politics and decision-making. Trained facilitators will in turn train other trainers in their countries to form a pool of trainers who will then train various learners through semi-annual academies hosted in the 8 countries of the consortium.
The WPP Academy manual comprises 10 modules:
Module 1 – Introduction to policy and governance
Module 2 – International legal framework for women’s political participation
Module 3- Women’s politics and engagement
Module 4- Women in elections
Module 5 – Communication, public relations and branding skills
Module 6 – Gender budgeting and resource mobilization
Module 7 – Women’s political influence, sustainability and men’s engagement
Module 8 – Transformative leadership for women in politics
Module 9 – Work-life balance, personal care
Module 10 – Mainstreaming disability to enhance women’s political participation
