High Level Advocacy Mission to Niger for the Ratification of the Maputo Protocol

IMPACT AND ACTION

The Network of Women Leaders for Development (RFLD) is currently implementing a project in Niger within the framework of the Advocacy for the Ratification of the African Charter on Human Rights relating to the Rights of Women Commonly called "Maputo Protocol": Contribute to access to sexual and reproductive health and rights for girls and women. The overall objective of the project is to disseminate the Maputo Protocol in order to increase the capacity of Nigerien Women and Girls to use advocacy to improve their living conditions.

This project is possible thanks to the financial support of the Swedish Agency for Development and International Cooperation (SIDA) through EQUALITY NOW. Remember that RFLD is a member of the Solidarity Coalition for African Women (SOAWR).
Within the framework of the multisectoral approach, the President of RFLD Mrs. AGUEH Dossi Sekonnou Gloria and the Secretary General of RFLD led a High Level Mission to meet state and non-state actors for Advocacy for the Ratification of the Protocol. It is to highlight that the Republic of Niger signed the protocol on July 06, 2004 by placing a reservation on article 14 related to the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls.


HEARING 1

The RFLD President & Secretary General were received by the Director of the Promotion of Women and Gender of the Ministry of Population and Promotion of Women of Niger. The Director for the Promotion of Women and Gender Mrs. SOUMANA Fatima and the delegation discussed issues related to women's rights. The delegation transmitted the advocacy message to the authorities of Niger for the ratification of the Maputo Protocol.


HEARING 2

The President and the Secretary General of the RFLD were received in audience by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Niger Mr. Ibrahim Jean ETIENNE within the framework of the Advocacy Mission for the #Ratification of the Protocol of #Maputo.


HEARING 3

The President and the Secretary General of RFLD were received in audience by Mrs. Fouta Hadjia Mariama Tiémogo, Mayor of Commune 4 of Niamey. It was time to make a plea to the State of Niger for the Ratification of the Maputo Protocol.
