High-Level Advocacy Mission to Niger for the Ratification of the Maputo Protocol

IMPACT AND ACTION

The Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD) is currently implementing a project in Niger within the framework of Advocacy for the Ratification of the African Charter on Human and Women’s Rights, commonly known as the “Maputo Protocol”: Contributing to access to sexual and reproductive health and rights for girls and women. The overall objective of the project is to disseminate the Maputo Protocol in order to increase the capacity of Nigerien women and girls to use advocacy to improve their living conditions. This project is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Swedish Agency for Development and International Cooperation (SIDA).
As part of the multi-sectoral approach, RFLD President Madame AGUEH Dossi Sekonnou Gloria and RFLD Secretary General led a High-Level Mission to meet with state and non-state actors to advocate ratification of the Protocol. It should be noted that the Republic of Niger signed the protocol on July 06, 2004, placing a reservation on article 14 relating to the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls.
