EmpowerHer
Health Hub.
RFLD's interactive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights education platform — built for young African women, anchored in the Maputo Protocol, structured around 12 thematic modules, 7 advocacy game scenarios, and 8 stakeholder engagement tracks.
The EmpowerHer Health Hub is an interactive education platform developed by RFLD as part of its continental SRHR programme. It is hosted within RFLD's DƆNÙESÈ Data Center — the continental data infrastructure that also hosts the Maputo Protocol Hub, the West Africa Legislative Platform, and the Women in Politics tracker.
The Hub is built for young African women seeking reliable, accessible, age-appropriate information about their sexual and reproductive health and rights — and for the educators, health workers, journalists, parliamentarians, and community leaders who work alongside them. Every module combines clear explanatory content with an interactive quiz; every quiz draws on the same continental legal framework (Maputo Protocol, CEDAW, African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance) that anchors RFLD's policy work.
Beyond the educational modules, the Hub includes seven advocacy game scenarios for GESI activist organisations, and eight stakeholder engagement tracks that translate SRHR principles into operational strategies for survivor support, education, healthcare, religious dialogue, law enforcement, journalism, and policy work.

Learn by doing.
Seven interactive game scenarios designed for GESI activist organisations and SRHR advocates. Each scenario presents a real strategic challenge, followed by a 10-question challenge that tests advocacy decision-making, resource allocation, community engagement, policy reform, fact-checking, survivor support, norm change, and impact storytelling.
The "Resource Navigator" challenge
Concept: This game puts users in charge of a GESI organisation's budget, requiring them to strategically allocate limited resources across various programme areas — survivor support, education campaigns, policy lobbying, and health clinic supplies.
Learning focus: Teaches users about the practical challenges of resource allocation, financial sustainability, and making difficult choices in humanitarian and advocacy work — directly linking to the "Accountability & Transparency" principle.
The "Community Mobilizer" simulation
Concept: This game focuses on the art of community engagement and coalition building. Users navigate scenarios where they need to gain support from diverse community members — youth, religious leaders, local elders — for a specific SRHR or GESI initiative.
Learning focus: Highlights the importance of community-led approaches, intersectional understanding, and effective communication for grassroots advocacy — reinforcing the "Community-Led Approaches" and "Building Coalitions & Partnerships" principles.
The "Policy Reformer" journey
Concept: This challenge dives deeper into the legislative and policy-making process. Players take on the role of an advocate trying to pass a new law or amend existing legislation related to SRHR or gender equality.
Learning focus: Provides insights into policy advocacy cycles, stakeholder influence, strategic negotiation, and the role of evidence in influencing legal frameworks — connecting strongly to "Data-Driven Advocacy" and "Building Coalitions" with state actors.
The "Fact-Checker Face-Off"
Concept: Users act as investigative journalists or health communicators, tasked with debunking common myths and misinformation surrounding SRHR topics — contraception side effects, FGM, STI transmission, vaccination.
Learning focus: Emphasises data-driven advocacy, ethical communication, and the importance of accessible, accurate information to empower communities and counter harmful narratives.
The "Survivor Support Network" builder
Concept: This game focuses on the practical aspects of establishing and maintaining a comprehensive support system for survivors of gender-based violence.
Learning focus: Teaches about trauma-informed care, the multi-faceted needs of survivors, intersectional approaches to support, and the importance of strong partnerships with health, legal, and community services.
The "Norm Challenger" campaign
Concept: Users design and execute campaigns to shift harmful social and gender norms that perpetuate SRHR violations — child marriage, FGM, gender-based violence.
Learning focus: Highlights the complexity of social change, the role of cultural sensitivity, and the power of community-led approaches and feminist leadership in transforming attitudes and behaviours.
The "Impact Storyteller"
Concept: This game challenges users to effectively measure and communicate the impact of their SRHR/GESI programmes to various stakeholders — from local communities to international donors.
Learning focus: Reinforces accountability and transparency, emphasises data-driven advocacy, and develops skills in strategic communication and evidence-based reporting to demonstrate tangible change.
