Work With RFLD

Careers at RFLD.

Building a pan-African feminist movement requires people who can hold institutional rigour and political conviction at once. RFLD recruits programme, MEL, finance, communications, and operations professionals across our four offices in Senegal, Ghana, Benin, and The Gambia.

About RFLD

What you'd be joining.

RFLD — Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement — is a pan-African feminist network founded in 2013. We work across the 55 African Union member states with permanent offices in Senegal, Ghana, Benin, and The Gambia, and a network of more than 670 member organisations across the continent.

Our institutional credentials include ACHPR Observer Status and a seat on the Working Group of the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders, the 2026 Presidency of the GIZ/BMZ SEA-T Council (1 of 12 African feminist organisations selected), and NGOsource Equivalency Determination (US 501(c)(3) public-charity equivalence). In 2025 RFLD managed $1.77M across seven institutional donors — Foundation for a Just Society, Packard, GIZ/BMZ, Sida, AmplifyChange, Expertise France — with 85% deployed to field activities.

We work across six programme fields: SRHR/DSSR, Civic Space & Human Rights Defenders, Economic Justice & Climate, Participatory Governance, Peace & Security, and Ending FGM & Child Marriage. We re-grant to grassroots francophone feminist organisations through the WAFFF Fund and to pan-African grantees through the Africa Portfolio Grant.

Why RFLD

What we offer.

01 · Substantive work

Real institutional weight, not aid theatre.

RFLD operates at the level where continental policy meets community organising. Our staff engage with ACHPR sessions, AU mechanisms, GIZ/BMZ feminist policy, and grassroots feminist organisations through the WAFFF Fund. The work is technical, political, and consequential.

02 · Pan-African team

Four offices, one institutional culture.

Staff across Senegal, Ghana, Benin, and The Gambia work as a single team. We are bilingual French–English by default, francophone-led, and committed to feminist coordination practices that resist the extractive dynamics common in the development sector.

03 · Professional development

Investment in your craft.

RFLD invests in staff growth — technical training (digital safety, MEL methodology, advocacy practice), continental conference participation, and exposure to AU and ACHPR mechanisms. We expect staff to develop, and we resource that development.

04 · Institutional integrity

Policies that actually function.

We operate with a complete policy framework — Data Protection, Child Protection, Safeguarding, Code of Conduct, AI, and DEI policies — backed by an integrity channel and accessible governance. We take staff wellbeing seriously and build the systems to demonstrate it.

Recruitment status

No current openings.

RFLD is not actively recruiting at this time. Open positions are announced on this page and across our LinkedIn and X channels when recruitment cycles begin. Subscribe to the RFLD newsletter to be notified when new roles open.

We typically recruit for programme, MEL, finance, communications, and operations roles across our four offices in Senegal, Ghana, Benin, and The Gambia. Roles are offered on three-year renewable contracts with bilingual French–English working environments.

Equal opportunity

A workplace that takes diversity seriously.

RFLD does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, or any other protected characteristic. We strongly encourage applications from women, LGBTQI+ candidates, persons with disabilities, and candidates from francophone West African countries.

Safeguarding

Our hiring is policy-anchored.

All RFLD recruitment is governed by our Child Protection Policy (CPP-2026-01), Safeguarding Policy, Data Protection Policy (DPP-2026-01), and Code of Conduct. Successful candidates undergo background verification and reference checks consistent with these policies. Concerns about RFLD's hiring practice may be raised confidentially via integrity@rflgd.org.

Send a speculative application.

RFLD's portfolio expands continuously. If you bring relevant expertise — programmatic, technical, financial, communications, or governance — we welcome speculative applications and review them quarterly against emerging needs.
