The Network of Women Leaders for Development (RFLD) expresses its deep sorrow and solidarity following the tragic attack that occurred on January 8, 2025, at the Point Triple position, near the border with Niger and Burkina Faso. This senseless violence claimed the lives of 30 soldiers, leaving families in mourning and a nation in shock.

We mourn the unacceptable loss of these lives. Each soldier killed represents a father, a mother, a brother, a sister, and our hearts ache for the families affected by this tragedy. Benin, increasingly confronted with attacks attributed to jihadists, faces an immense challenge. We extend our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and assure them of our support during this painful time.

RFLD also wishes to express its solidarity with all those affected by this attack. Physical wounds may heal over time, but emotional and psychological scars can leave lasting impacts. We encourage authorities to provide the necessary support to help victims and their families overcome this ordeal.

In moments like these, it is vital that we remain united, support our neighbors, and stand firmly against terror. Together, we are stronger, and together, we can overcome these challenges.

We must hold on to hope and believe in a better future, one where violence has no place. RFLD reiterates its commitment to working for peace, justice, and sustainable development. We must remember that it is in unity and solidarity that we will find the strength to overcome these trials.

In this dark time, we hope that the light of hope and solidarity shines upon our nation. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace, and may their families find the comfort they need.

We reaffirm our commitment to contributing to a world without violence, where human dignity is respected and protected. Together, let us ensure that the memory of the victims is honored through our actions and our determination to build a better future.

With our deepest condolences,

Network of Women Leaders for Development (RFLD)
