Le RFLD, actif au Bénin et au Ghana, opère dans le Sahel, en Afrique de l’Ouest, centrale et australe. L’organisation met l’accent sur des priorités programmatiques comprenant la santé sexuelle et reproductive, les droits humains, ainsi que la justice économique et climatique. Elle travaille également sur des enjeux de paix, de sécurité et de gouvernance participative. Cette approche holistique vise à répondre aux besoins divers et spécifiques des communautés desservies, garantissant que les actions prises soient adaptées aux contextes variés et aux priorités locales.

Le Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD) souligne l’urgence de lutter contre les violences basées sur le genre, un problème majeur du XXIe siècle. La violence contre les femmes viole les droits humains et freine le développement économique et social, surtout en Afrique subsaharienne. Malgré des avancées législatives, l’application demeure déficiente face à des défis culturels. Le RFLD lance une stratégie 2023-2028 axée sur l’éducation, l’autonomisation économique et la lutte contre les violences. L’implication collective est essentielle pour assurer la sécurité et le bien-être des femmes, les élever au rang d’actrices du changement et promouvoir l’égalité.

This resource fosters understanding, combats ignorance, and inspires advocacy for gender equality. As RFLD President AGUEH Dossi Sekonnou Gloria emphasizes, education is key to dismantling barriers and igniting change. The quiz serves as both a tool for personal growth and a call to action for individuals committed to creating a fair and equitable world for women.

The Maputo Protocol represents a significant achievement in advancing gender equality and women’s rights in Africa, attributed largely to Afro-feminist movements. These movements have been instrumental in advocating for and ensuring the protocol’s implementation, addressing the unique challenges faced by African women, including issues of race and class. As of December 2023, 45 member states have ratified the protocol, signaling commitment despite ongoing challenges from non-signatories and those that have signed but not ratified. Afro-feminist organizations play a pivotal role in monitoring the protocol’s implementation, lobbying for legal reforms, and promoting grassroots awareness, emphasizing that sustained advocacy and vigilance are crucial for realizing the protocol’s promise.

RFLD seeks partnerships and donations to reinstate these programs, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to address gender-based violence, limited access to education, and healthcare inequalities for women in the region.
