RFLD Position Paper : Climate justice in Africa must center women’s leadership, land rights, care work, and gender-just climate finance.

Dear friends and partners,

RFLD is proud to share our new position paper on climate justice in Africa.

The paper argues that the climate crisis is also a crisis of inequality, exclusion, and power. Across Africa, women and girls are disproportionately affected by drought, food insecurity, water stress, displacement, and unpaid care burdens — yet they are also leading solutions through agroecology, community resilience, clean energy, grassroots finance, and local organizing.

Our position paper calls for a feminist and community-led approach that centers land rights, food sovereignty, water justice, clean cooking, climate finance, and women’s participation in policy and decision-making. It also aligns with wider African and global frameworks calling for inclusive climate governance and gender-responsive action.

We invite you to read and share the paper, and to join us in advancing climate action rooted in justice, dignity, and the leadership of African women and girls.

In solidarity,
