Meeting in ordinary session on Friday April 14, 2023 at the headquarters of the Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement, the members of the Board of Directors spent the whole day discussing the future of the organization. The meeting was chaired by Dossi Sekonnou Gloria AGUEH. In addition to approving the activity report for January to March 2023 presented by the executive management team, two major challenges were discussed in depth. These were the search for funding to fill the gap in the implementation of the RFLD 2023-2028 strategic plan, the construction of the RFLD headquarters and the training of staff members.

Presenting a report on the activities carried out in the first quarter of 2023, and outlining RFLD’s immediate ambitions for the coming months: this was the objective behind the organization of an ordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement. Dossi Gloria Sekonnou AGUEH, President of the RFLD, opened the ordinary session of the Board of Directors, welcoming the directors and the executive management.

Based on our theory of change, we believe that if integrated, multi-sectoral and context-sensitive policies are in place, implemented and monitored, adequate, predictable and flexible funding will be effectively invested at all levels to meet gender mainstreaming needs.

After verifying the quorum, the RFLD President went straight on to present the summary of the activity and financial report for January to March. According to the narrative report, RFLD is currently running 4 programs. These various projects have enabled us to carry out communication activities aimed at changing behavior and promoting women’s rights, as well as combating the under-representation of women in decision-making bodies. Starting from her vision of making RFLD a strong, efficiently managed organization with increased local and institutional roots, the RFLD President clearly presented the network’s priorities for 2023.

RFLD is active in the following areas:

Civic space and human rights
Economic and social justice
Fight against harmful practices
Peace and security
Advocacy for women’s political participation
Climate change

However, the major challenge lies in mobilizing financial resources.

In this respect, without relegating the opportunities to be seized at national level to second place, the Board has, through its presentation, given priority to the mobilization of funds at regional level.

To this end, the Board intends to set up a mechanism to ensure the success of this mission.

Appreciating the perspectives and major challenges, the members of the Board of Directors felt that they were well in line with the strategic objectives set out in the RFLD 2023-2028 strategic plan.
