Our New “Report on Women’s Voice in a Patriarchal Society – Change the Narrative” is published

The Women Leaders for Development Network team is proud to publish our new report entitled “Report on Women’s Voices in a Patriarchal Society – Changing the Narrative”.

This report focuses on the following countries: Benin, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Niger, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Gabon, Liberia, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).One of Africa’s biggest problems is the absence of women, of their voices in the spheres of power and decision-making. In many countries, for example, low participation is a culture. This mixed representation of women is generally the result of cultural attitudes that depend on tradition and are tacitly applied in political groupings. It is clear, then, that we need to provide an environment conducive to the effective participation of men and women if we are to equalize voices in our institutions.

This document analyzes the causes of the low presence of women in these decision-making spheres, and presents solutions for change. The advocacy we propose is fully in line with RFLD’s objectives, which aim to create an environment of equitable rights for all.

The 56-page report is only available in French.

We invite you to publish it on your various platforms.
