Explore RFLD’s SRHR work : the whole portfolio

This month marks the 23rd anniversary of the adoption of the Maputo Protocol in Mozambique. In celebration, RFLD has compiled its entire sexual and reproductive health and rights portfolio online, featuring six thematic areas such as safe abortion and family planning, each aligned with the Protocol. The portfolio includes RFLD's commitments on malaria and maternal health, the West African Francophone Feminist Fund supporting feminist organizations, and an upcoming Africa Portfolio Grant opening in September 2026. As Co-Chair of the SEA-T Programme Advisory Council, RFLD emphasizes that bodily autonomy underpins all rights, inviting exploration and collaboration.

Dear partners and friends,

Twenty-three years ago this month, the Maputo Protocol was adopted in Mozambique. To mark the anniversary, we have brought RFLD’s entire sexual and reproductive health and rights portfolio together on a single page, and we would like to invite you to explore it:

What you will find there:

— Six thematic areas, each anchored in the Maputo Protocol article it implements: safe abortion and reproductive choice; family planning and sexuality education; ending FGM and child marriage; gender-based violence, including technology-facilitated violence; sex trafficking and exploitation; and inclusion and stigma reduction;

— Our health work on malaria and maternal, newborn and child health across the highest-burden francophone states, including our 2026–2028 commitments;

— Our work with adolescent girls: menstrual health, covering sanitary products, school sanitation and ending menstrual stigma; early pregnancy prevention, with school re-entry support for adolescent mothers; HIV prevention; and the recognition of GBV as a health issue;

— The West African Francophone Feminist Fund (WAFFF) and its four grant windows for feminist organisations across the nine Ouagadougou Partnership countries, including urgent-action decisions within five business days;

— The Africa Portfolio Grant, opening for applications in September 2026 across all 55 AU member states.

RFLD serves this year as Co-Chair of the Society Equality Africa Transformation (SEA-T) https://www.giz.de/en/projects/society-equality-africa-transformation-sea-t Programme Advisory Council (BMZ/GIZ), helping ensure that programme direction and resources align with the visions of Afro-feminist civil society.

Please explore, share with your networks, and write to us whether you are a grassroots organisation looking at the WAFFF windows, a researcher interested in our open data, or a partner exploring deeper collaboration.

In solidarity,
