RFLD Magazine: Gender Rights and Equality in Benin

Africa 1 min read
Updated

This document was published by the Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement. This publication was produced as part of the project on the inclusion of Women and Girls in influencing the review process, content and outcomes of Beijing +25 in Benin”.

The project aims to mobilize, convene and lead the engagement of African women, girls and non-binary people in the Beijing +25 review processes and forums to ensure that the commitments of the intergenerational equality forums take into account the unique needs, aspirations and ambitions of African women in their diversity. Its content is the sole responsibility of the RFLD.

The women’s rights promoted through Beijing must be a concrete reality in our African states. We’ve come a long way, and some progress has been made, but there is still plenty of room for manoeuvre to ensure social justice and fundamental rights (health, education, work) for women. We are convinced that taking on board the recommendations of this report will help to realize the expectations of equality expressed in Beijing 25 years ago.
