Thanks to funding from the Swedish Agency for Development and International Cooperation (SIDA), the RFLD has carried out initiatives in Niger as part of its advocacy for the ratification of the Maputo Protocol.
The Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa, also known as the Maputo Protocol, is a progressive legal instrument that confers a range of rights on African women and girls.
RFLD project in Niger has contributed to access to sexual and reproductive health and rights for girls and women through the use of the Maputo Protocol in Niger.
RFLD has facilitated high-level missions to meet Nigerien authorities. Our team translated the Maputo Protocol into Hausa and Zarma. We conducted several workshops on sexual rights using the Maputo Protocol. The RFLD also conducted radio broadcasts in vernacular languages to raise awareness among the population.
