A Visionary Leader and Advocate for Gender Equality
Today, we celebrate the birthday of a remarkable woman, Agueh Dossi Sekonnou Gloria. A visionary leader and tireless advocate for gender equality, Gloria is the Founder and current President of the Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD). Established in 2012, RFLD has become a leading force in promoting women’s rights and empowering women across Subsaharan Africa.
Gloria’s passion for social justice is evident in her extensive work and achievements. The organization has received funding from various donors, including Sida, Amplify Change, Black Feminist Fund, Equality Now, AWDF, CIVICUS, and more, recognizing its significant impact on communities throughout the continent. RFLD operates in 27 countries, spanning the Sahel, West Africa,Central, and Southern Africa, working tirelessly to end discrimination, violence against women and girls, and promote gender equality and human rights.
Gloria’s dedication to her cause has led her to travel extensively, engaging with institutions such as the European Union, African Union, Women Deliver, and Sida.
She has been instrumental in shaping policies and programs that support women’s empowerment and gender equality at both regional and international levels.
Beyond her leadership of RFLD, Gloria has also served as an Ambassador for the African Union Governance Continental Roadshow Campaign.
Gloria is in the Steering Committee of The Consortium for Human Rights and Media in Sub-Saharan Africa (CHARM Africa Consortium) funded by Sida since 2018. The Sida CHARM Africa Program focuses on Civil Society, Media, Minorities Groups across Subsaharan Africa. These roles highlight her commitment to promoting good governance, civic engagement, and media freedom.
She is Benin Country Advisor for UAF Africa, a continental fund supporting women, girls, and minorities groups.
RFLD has led several programs and consultations with partners such as the World Bank..
