The Role
You will play a vital role in managing the financial operations of RFLD's Ghana office, ensuring robust financial systems that support our mission to advance gender justice and human rights across Sub-Saharan Africa. You will work closely with program teams, partner organizations, and donors to maintain financial transparency and accountability while supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial reporting and analysis.
This position is based in Accra, Ghana and reports to the Africa Director with functional reporting to the Regional Finance Director.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management, and bank reconciliations for the Ghana office.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, budget reports, and donor financial reports in compliance with international accounting standards and donor requirements.
- Support grant management activities including budget preparation, financial monitoring, and variance analysis for multiple funding sources and programs.
- Ensure compliance with local Ghanaian tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with program teams to track project expenditures, monitor budget utilization, and provide financial guidance on program implementation.
- Support external audits, donor visits, and financial due diligence processes by preparing required documentation and financial records.
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software and databases, ensuring proper documentation and filing systems.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, strategic financial planning, and resource mobilization efforts.
- Support capacity building initiatives by providing financial training and guidance to partner organizations and community groups.
- Collaborate with regional finance team members across RFLD's Pan-African network to ensure consistency in financial practices and reporting.
Your Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of professional accounting/finance experience.
- Nationality Requirement: Must be a Ghanaian National with legal authorization to work in Ghana without need for visa sponsorship.
- Professional Qualification: Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Sector Experience: Previous experience in non-profit organizations, NGOs, or development sector, particularly with donor-funded projects and grant management.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Ghanaian tax laws, statutory compliance requirements, and local banking regulations.
- International Standards: Experience with international accounting standards and donor financial reporting requirements.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Analytical Skills: Experience in budget preparation, financial analysis, and management reporting.

- Strong commitment to gender equality, women's rights, and social justice aligned with RFLD's mission and values.
- Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping.
- Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of local Ghanaian languages is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, Pan-African environment with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships with team members.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and donor requirements in a dynamic organizational environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically within Ghana and to other West African countries (up to 45%).
- Proficiency in French would be considered an advantage given RFLD's Pan-African scope.
