The Women Leaders Network for Development (RFLD), a leading feminist organization in Sub-Saharan Africa, held its annual Country Focal Points Meeting on February 21, 2024. This virtual gathering brought together representatives from 23 RFLD member countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Congo-Brazzaville, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea-Conakry, Mali, Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Togo, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mauritania, Central African Republic, Chad, Cape Verde, and Guinea-Bissau.
The meeting served as a crucial platform for the RFLD network to collectively assess progress, strategize for the future, and reaffirm its commitment to advancing women’s and girls’ rights in the region.
Key Agenda Items:
- Annual strategy review and assessment: Participants reviewed the network’s achievements and challenges over the past year, evaluating the effectiveness of implemented programs and identifying areas for improvement.
- Discussion of emerging trends and opportunities: The meeting explored current developments impacting women’s and girls’ lives in Sub-Saharan Africa, including the ongoing climate change adaptation, and political instability.

About the RFLD:
The Women Leaders Network for Development – Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD) founded in 2012 is a regional organization based in West Africa working with 470 members from over 60 women-led member organizations across 27 countries to promote and protect the rights of youth and women and ensure their participation in decision-making spheres.
Operating throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, RFLD boasts an extensive network of CSOs, government partners, and regional networks that allows us to influence the enabling environment for women’s rights.
