Dear RFLD Partners,

On this International Safe Abortion Day, we are proud to share with you a crucial resource for our common fight: the RFLD Manual on Safe Abortion Advocacy in Benin.

 Our Manual: A Strategic Tool

This document represents much more than a simple guide – it’s a call to action designed to transform our approach to reproductive rights advocacy in Benin. Created to support the implementation of Law No. 2021-12 adopted in October 2021, this manual addresses all committed stakeholders:

Policy makers
Healthcare providers
Community leaders
The general public

An Evolving Legal Context

Law No. 2021-12 marked a significant turning point by expanding access to safe abortion in Benin. However, challenges persist:

Persistent social stigmatization
Unequal access to services, particularly in rural areas
Lack of information and awareness
Economic and social inequalities

Our Strategic Approach

This manual proposes concrete strategies to:

  • Raise awareness among the public and healthcare professionals
  • Train healthcare providers
  • Influence policy makers
  • Overcome cultural and social barriers
