June 12-14, 2026: RFLD hosts West Africa Feminist Data Summit in Accra, Ghana – Meet the Operating System That African Feminism Runs On

RFLD is an African-led initiative that provides vital data infrastructure to support over 450 organizations across 55 countries in their fight for women’s rights. It offers legislative tracking, digital safety monitoring, and emergency protection systems to empower grassroots advocates and ensure effective policy reforms. The West Africa Feminist Data Summit will unite more than 200 activists, researchers, and technologists to enhance gender justice through data-driven strategies. Participants will engage in workshops, master advocacy tools, and gain insights to influence legislation. The data center consolidates real-time information essential for advocacy efforts, ensuring a coordinated approach to tackling gender-based issues in Africa.

URGENT: Protecting Our Privacy and Dignity in the Digital Age in Ghana – Enforcing the Cybersecurity Act 1038 Against Image-Based Sexual Abuse

The Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD) expresses deep concern over reports of a foreign national filming intimate encounters with women in Accra without consent. This incident reflects a broader crisis of patriarchal control through technology and a violation of human rights. The RFLD advocates for legal empowerment and provides analysis of the Ghanaian legal framework, including provisions in the Cybersecurity Act, 2020, that criminalize non-consensual recording and sharing of intimate images. A toolkit for women’s digital safety is also shared, urging proactive measures against potential threats. RFLD emphasizes the importance of consent, dignity, and seeking justice for affected individuals.

RFLD currently serves as Co-Chair of the SEA-T Programme Advisory Council, mandated to ensure the programme’s direction, priorities, and resources are meaningfully aligned with the visions of African women-led civil society. The SEA-T Programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.Le RFLD assure actuellement la coprésidence du Conseil consultatif du programme SEA-T, chargé de veiller à ce que l’orientation, les priorités et les ressources du programme soient réellement alignées sur les visions de la société civile africaine portée par les femmes.
