Supporting Courts to Provide Justice for Survivors of Sexual Violence in West Africa: RFLD Lessons Learned in Gender Transformative Health Programming
Sexual violence is a significant issue in West and Central Africa, impacting primarily women and girls. The Réseau de Femmes pour le Développement (RFLD) seeks to enhance justice for survivors by strengthening legal systems and promoting gender equality through holistic, community-based programs. These include partnerships with various stakeholders to provide integrated support for survivors, advocacy for legal reforms, and initiatives to challenge societal stigma. Engaging men and boys as allies, utilizing technology for outreach, and aligning local efforts with international standards are crucial components of RFLD’s approach. The combined efforts aim to create a supportive environment that empowers survivors.
