Ending FGM in West Africa

The Network of Women Leaders for Development (RFLD) is working to eradicate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in West Africa through a collaborative, multi-sectoral approach involving traditional and religious leaders, law enforcement, educators, health workers, and survivors. Their initiatives focus on cultural reform, legal education, and community outreach, empowering survivors to lead advocacy efforts. RFLD has also established mobile legal clinics to assist survivors and engages youth in activism, fostering peer networks to challenge outdated norms. By harmonizing legislation across borders and involving local communities in decision-making, RFLD aims to create sustainable change and protect future generations from FGM.
