Navigating Shifting Sands: Afro-Feminist Strategies and Legal Reform for FP/RH in a Post-Suspension Landscape
The suspension of USAID funding to African organizations has significantly affected women-led initiatives in Family Planning and Reproductive Health (FP/RH). This situation compels these organizations to enhance self-reliance and diversify funding sources while adopting an Afro-feminist perspective. The Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD) emphasizes legal reforms and collective action to push for sustainable FP/RH programs. By fostering partnerships, engaging local communities, and utilizing data-driven advocacy, RFLD aims to influence state actors and promote accountability. This transformation represents an opportunity for African organizations to strengthen resilience and create a sustainable future for women’s reproductive autonomy across the continent.
