Mahamoud Ali Youssouf pour sa réélection à la présidence de la Commission de l’Union Africaine. Son expérience en diplomatie et ses efforts pour la sécurité en Afrique sont salués, notamment son prix de l’Union Européenne pour la lutte contre la piraterie. Le RFLD souligne l’importance de l’implication des jeunes et de l’autonomisation des femmes dans le développement local. This collaboration aims to amplify RFLD’s commitment to defending youth and women’s rights, focusing on capacity building, awareness raising, and advocacy for legislative reforms. The Support Group includes key human rights organizations and plays a pivotal role in ensuring protection for human rights defenders across Africa. RFLD aims to enhance civic space and freedom of expression while encouraging collective action towards these objectives.

RFLD with AWDF join forces in the North of Benin to ending Harmful Practices with focus on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

From October 22-23, 2024, the Network of Women Leaders for Development (RFLD) conducted a two-day training for health workers in Parakou, Benin, focusing on combating female genital mutilation (FGM). The initiative, funded by the African Women’s Development Fund, aims to enhance the skills of health workers and raise awareness about FGM’s consequences, fostering community dialogue and engagement. The training featured interactive methods, covering various FGM types, related laws, prevention strategies, and communication skills. RFLD’s multidisciplinary approach encourages collaboration among stakeholders, crucial for effectively addressing FGM and supporting affected women. Ongoing efforts seek to expand training in other regions.

With a strategic plan for 2023-2028, RFLD aims to amplify women’s voices and empower them through advocacy, civil liberties, economic justice, and participatory governance.

Facing significant challenges like poverty and gender-based violence, RFLD seeks a $10 million fundraising target to strengthen women’s rights, increase their representation, and support women-led organizations. The organization encourages support for its transformative initiatives to create a just future for women and girls in Sub-Saharan Africa.
